About Calver Parish Council.

Parish Councils are part of the structure of local government in this country and are regulated by national government legislation. As a local council we play a part in working alongside the District and County Councils and liaise with the Peak District National Park Authority on planning matters.

The Parish Council is the smallest and most local form of local government but we are a local authority and our meetings and procedures are strictly defined. Although we try to be responsive to local need and our Parish Councillors are all residents of the village, we are nonetheless subject to a code of conduct.

Our meeting are open to members of the public and there is a standing agenda item which allows members of the public to raise with the Parish Council matters of concern. These issues, where there are within the Parish Council's powers and responsibilities, will then be made an agenda item for the following meeting when it can be full debated.

Members of the public are able to receive minutes and agendas for all meetings of the Council and where you  wish an item to be included on an agenda but are not able to attend a meeting in person, then the subject should be raised directly with the Clerk to the Parish Council
