Calver:

Once again Calver Film has celebrated a very successful season and has been well supported, not only by those who live locally but by others who are prepared to travel some distance.  We presently have 140 members and most have renewed their membership from last year.

Calver Film was originally supported by Derbyshire Arts, who lent equipment to villages so that films could be shown in local venues.  There are many Film Groups throughout Derbyshire and all are thriving.  Based in the Village Hall, Calver Film is a membership based club, meeting every 2^nd Thursday during the month, and aims to show a mixture of new, classic and foreign language films.  The Village Hall has a bar, which encourages the social side of our evenings and occasionally other social events are included.  Calver Film also supports local charities with a raffle each month. 

We are delighted to launch our 6^th season and hope to include some new exciting live entertainment from Derbyshire Live and Local programme which will be advertised locally and within the club.  We look forward to welcoming you to another fantastic season of films and if you wish to become a member we recommend joining as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.  We are holding the AGM for members on Thursday, 10^th June at 7.30pm in the Village Hall.  To make the meeting interesting we will be showing Julie and Julia with Meryl Streep.  Membership Secretary:  Paddy Hall 01433 630760  Hydrangea Cottage, Hall Fold, Calver S32 3XL
